Greek Spotlights

Taylor Gerstner

Taylor is a member of Tri Sigma who is a sophomore Health Science and Biology major with a Pre-Med concentration. She hopes to attend medical school and eventually become a Pediatric Oncologist and do work in cancer research. Taylor joined Greek Life in the fall semester of her freshman year (2016). She decided to GO GREEK because she wanted to find an organization that would bring out the best in her, help her grow as a student and person, and give her the opportunity to give back to the community. She describes her Greek Life experience as “the Greek community has been a great support system to have and helps me get through some of the stressful times here at Truman. I love having the opportunity to get involved in leadership positions, working in committees, and just getting to know so many different people. Greek Life is a great way to get involved on campus and has helped improve my pre-professional skills including leadership, networking, time management, etc. It has also brought a lot of fun memories and has definitely had a positive impact on my college experience. Greek Life has made me a more well-rounded person and helped me break out of my shell. I am so thankful that I decided to join the Greek community my freshman year.”

Emily Mollet

Emily is a member of Delta Zeta who is a sophomore double major in Visual Communications and Business Administration, with a concentration in marketing. After graduating, she hopes to work with startup companies to develop their brand and identity with her degree in graphic design. Emily joined Greek Life in the Fall semester of her freshmen year (2016). She decided to GO GREEK on a whim. Her roommate was pumped for recruitment and was persuaded to GO GREEK while she was still trying to find her place here at Truman. As soon as she attended her first Greek event, she knew she made the right decision. She describes her Greek Life experience as “overwhelmingly positive. I have met so many people that have helped me grow as a person by pushing me out of my comfort zone and encouraging me to be more engaged in life and Delta Zeta. I have been DZ’s Courtesy Chair for the past year, so that has helped me connect with people on an individual level, supporting those who are having a hard time and show them they are loved. DZ has helped me build strong friendships with so many girls. My overall thoughts on Greek Life are positive. I love the connections that Greek Life helps to create and the friendships that develop from your involvement. Greek Life has had a great impact on my life!”

Willie Jackson

Willie is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc who is a sophomore double major in Finance/Marketing and Japanese. After graduating Willie would like to be his own boss as he pursues life on the entrepreneur track. Willie joined Greek Life in the Spring semester of his freshman year (2016). He decided to GO GREEK because it is the tradition in his family as his dad and many of his uncles are also members of Kappa. He also joined for the networking aspect. He describes his Greek Life Experience as “being a great experience overall. My fraternity has provided me with great connections and an internship alongside a job after college. I think Greek Life is wildly misunderstood with all of the notations about pledging, being Greek and just partying and drinking. It is so much more than that. Somethings cannot be explained which is why I urge people to GO GREEK to have their mind opened to a whole new world. Greek Life has helped me take the necessary steps to get to my ideal future!”
